Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do you operate your own vehicles?

A. Yes, we do. We operate our own fleet of motorhomes. The Mercedes based Spirit 5 is the backbone of our fleet, supplemented by a smaller number of Spirit 3's and Toyota Hilux based Cub 3's. However, we are also able to book a 4x4 camper or a motorhome for you from our colleagues in the industry should you require one that we don't have in our fleet.

Q. If I submit a "request for quote" form, does that mean I am committed to the hire?

A. No. Submitting a "request for quote" form merely allows us to send you a proposal. This then opens communication between us and yourselves and allows us to fine-tune the proposal to meet your requirements. Only after you have accepted our quotation and we have, in turn, sent you a confirmation, does this constitute a confirmed booking.

Q. Are the first and last days counted as part of the hire?

A. Yes. Due to the time and logistics involved in preparing a camper for hire, it is necessary that both the first and last days of the hire are counted. This is an industry norm.

Q. Do we have to bring any camping equipment or bedding?

A. No. Our campers are fully equipped for camping. We supply all cutlery, crockery, bedding, towels, barbeque and camping equipment. The campers themselves are fitted with gas cookers, microwave ovens and fridges, so you will be completely self-sufficient. There is no extra charge for camping equipment and bedding.

Q. What type of driver's licence is required?

A. An international driving licence, or a licence with a photograph and wording in English, or a licence approved by the South African traffic authorities, or a valid South African driver’s licence is required for all drivers.  Drivers age limits are 23-75 and no leaner drivers allowed.  If the licence is under 2 years old, a 5% surcharge will apply in the event of an insurance claim. A copy of your driver’s license must be be submitted before collection of the vehicle.

Q. What happens if the vehicle has a break-down enroute?

A. While every vehicle is thoroughly serviced and checked, breakdowns can occur unexpectedly. The hirer is authorised to have minor repairs carried out and to settle directly with the supplier; we will refund the cost of the repairs to you. Larger repairs will be arranged by us. We are contracted to The AA (Automobile Association) Fleetcare emergency breakdown service which operates nationwide, so help is always at hand.
